The Catanduanes
police reveled last week in the wake of the apprehension of the alleged leader
of the notorious Spider robbery gang in a buy-bust operation in Virac.
Alexander “Alek-Alek”
Aguilar of barangay Marcelo Alberto is being held without bail following the
filing of a criminal charge against him for violation of the Comprehensive
Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Regional Trial Court last Friday. He had
allegedly sold to an undercover policeman two sachets of methamphetamine
hydrochloride weighing 0.037 gram during the operation two days earlier.
According to
documents filed with the Court, a member of the Catanduanes Provincial Police
Public Safety Company was informed by an intelligence operative, quoting a
confidential civilian agent, that Aguilar was peddling dangerous drugs. Senior
Inspector Jose Michael Aurelio and his men joined personnel of the Virac police
station led by Inspector Cocoy San Jose in mounting the operation against
Aguilar.
At 8:35 P.M. of July
25, the team posted themselves at the vicinity of the welcome sign at
Calatagan, where five minutes later, the poseur-buyer and the agent arrived to
wait for the target who arrived on board a motorcycle. Upon an pre-arranged
signal by the buyer, the policemen swarmed around Aguilar, who reportedly threw
the marked money and the shabu sachets to the ground and the nearby canal.
The police recovered
the eight 100-peso bills and confiscated the suspect’s Nokia cellphone and a
Honda Wave motorcycle (EG-7931).
