A farmer ended an argument with his own father by using a baseball bat to kill the latter inside their own home in the capital town last week.
According to the report sent to the PNP provincial headquarters at Camp Francisco Camacho, both Nestor Glendoro Amarillas, 51, and his son Rommel, 24, were under the influence of intoxicating liquor when they started arguing outside their residence at barangay Batag, Virac at about 6:15 P.M. of April 5.
The duo then went inside the house minutes later. Agnes Amarillas was at the kitchen when she heard something being struck. When she went to verify it, she saw his father slumped on a chair, his head bloodied, while her brother Rommel was beside him and holding a baseball bat.
The elder Amarillas was brought by concerned neighbors to the Eastern Bicol Medical Center but he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The suspect remains at large, with the Virac police coordinating with Batag barangay officials to facilitate his arrest.
Meanwhile, a cellular phone technician was caught in possession of a home-made shotgun the other week in Virac.
SPO4 Manuel Monjardin of the 501st PNP Maritime Command based in Tabaco City arrested Rodel Tano Frias, 20, a technician at the Star Cell Phone Repair Shop and a resident of Tariwara, Pandan, while in possession of a "sumpak" loaded with one bullet for a 12-gauge shotgun last April 3 at about 6:30 P.M. in San Isidro Village. Criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 1866, as amended, are set to be filed against Frias.
